Around RLC this week: Rooted worship event

A unique worship event is headed to Real Life Church at the end of July and you will not want to miss it! Rooted will take place July 29 at 7:30 p.m. and will bring together music, fellowship and community to help raise awareness and funds for missions.

“In college, I coordinated similar events with the Baptist Campus Ministry,” Rooted organizer and RLCer Cameran Smith said. “I organized a couple shows with local bands to raise awareness for different groups and organizations, and had it on my heart to do something similar like that again.”

The pieces for Rooted fell together quickly. Cameran knew it was an affirmation that her idea to coordinate another event was headed in the right direction and she believes that the event is important for many reasons.13466040_1388332064517726_1696780058784675095_n

“It’s a chance for the community to come together to fellowship and worship,” Cameran said. “Secondly, I hope to raise money for mission trips. Lastly, I sincerely hope that through the music and fellowship, believers will experience a closeness with Christ and that unbelievers will encounter Christ in a way that will spark a desire to know more.”

Admission to the event will be $3, which includes snacks and performances by Darla Day and Michael Nichols. An optional offering with an opportunity to give additional funds to go towards missions will be taken later in the evening.

Also, volunteers are needed for the event in sound and tech, offering help, as well as set-up and clean-up! If you are interested in helping, attending, or have any questions, please contact Cameran Smith! Invite your friends and get ready for a fun night with a great purpose!

Volunteer Spotlight: Hope Cafe and Stuff the Bus

image3Last month, Hope Cafe donated a generous portion of funds to the Center for Courageous Kids.  This month, the missions-minded team will be reaching out to a different group in the community of Bowling Green-Stuff the Bus.

Each year, Stuff the Bus seeks to fulfill the need for school supplies to children whose families may not have the means to do so, and now Real Life Church as the opportunity to be a part of it.  Stuff+the+Bus7Each homemade treat you buy on Sunday mornings will help in preparing Warren County students for the 2016-2017 school year.

In addition, RLC’s KidsLife kiddos can also participate, and even earn an extra punch on their attendance cards in class!  For the month of July, KidsLife teachers will be collecting school supplies that their students drop off.  Each time a student donates, he or she will be awarded a point towards the prize cabinet at the end of class.kids3

So for the next few weeks, let’s take the incentive to join with the Hope Cafe’s mission to outreach to the community.  Stop by before the 9:30 and 11:00 services for breakfast, and encourage RLC’s students to take advantage of the opportunity to give!
