In “The Pursuit of God,” A.W. Tozer wrote: “Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshipers met together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be, were they to become ‘unity’ conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship.” In other words, believers are called to be in relationship with God, and in turn, become unified with one another. We were created with a deep need for fellowship that comes from worshiping our Creator together.
When first visiting Real Life Church, it was a friendship with another family that invited Drew Fulkerson and his family. It was the fellowship of other members that encouraged the Fulkersons to stay, and it is the hope to strengthen old relationships and foster new ones that drives Drew to serve and be a part of RLC: “I enjoy making our church a welcoming place for everyone. I also cherish the relationships that my family has formed while serving at RLC.”
While he might have a tender side when it comes to the friendships he and his wife have cultivated (they co-lead the married couples LifeGroup, and he co-leads the ushers on Sundays), Drew uses strength and resilience with various building projects around the church. “I help tear down walls, build new walls, paint walls and floors, hang speakers, and I’ve helped move the stage a couple times.” In addition, he is able to utilize his technology skills by operating the camera on Sundays and recording the worship service and sermon.
As for his life outside of church, he proves to be a dependable and loyal person in all areas. Drew grew up just an hour away from Bowling Green in Owensboro, Kentucky. After receiving an education at WKU, he became a computer science teacher at Bowling Green High School. When he’s not teaching or serving at church, Drew can be found playing golf or disc golf, enjoying his quadcopter, or watching movies with his wife Jahna.
Drew’s dedication to his family, job, and church brought him the Spotlight for this week. So be sure to show him some appreciation for all he does at Real Life Church!
